On Test: Campy Zonda 2 Way Fit
Things we love: Steep angles, great power transfer, an aggressive position. What’s the down side to all that? Frequently a rough ride. That is one of the reasons we love deep-dish carbon. Sure it’s fast and aero, but to really get the most out of it you need to ride tubulars. That’s fine on race day, but for every day riding we need clinchers. So we find ourselves training on aluminum clinchers and paying the price with a very rough ride.
That was until we really embraced tubeless technology. It can take a traditional aluminum clincher and make it a magic carpet ride. You still get the benefits of the light weigh and the great stiffness but at 85 PSI its sting is gone and the decreased rolling resistance pays off with every pedal stroke. We’ve already tested the Shamal Ultra 2-way fit and the stellar Dura Ace 7850’s.
So we were very excited to get in Campagnolo’s Zonda2-Way Fit, a wheel priced at less than $1000. We’ll be putting them through our rigorous testing routine including numerous riders and multiple bikes. Look for a complete review early this spring. Until then here are the details of our latest test wheels.
